Client Reviews

  • We loved staying at The Cloisters in Kalangadoo and highly recommend it. All of the rooms were tastefully decorated and the church-related memorabilia scattered through the living areas added to the charm. A real plus was 3 bathrooms so that we did not have to share facilities with the people who travelled with us. The kitchen had everything that we needed and it was very thoughtful of Jess to provide staples like cereal, sugar, rice and olive oil. Feeding Jimmy, the Shetland pony, every morning with carrots left for him in the fridge was a treat.

We found the Cloisters to be perfectly located for sight-seeing in the southeast. All the locations of interested to us were within 30-45 minutes’ drive, including Coonawarra wineries, the Naracoorte Caves, Mayura Station and Mount Gambier. We definitely aim to stay at the Cloisters next time we visit Coonawarra and the surrounding region.

  • Absolutely amazing trip in a beautifully appointed and maintained property!

Peaceful, relaxing and absolutely everything you could possibly need in a home away from home.

The cloisters came complete with tonnes of breakfast supplies, books games and toys for the kids, and even a campfire ready to go.

Our absolute highlight was feeding Jimmy the pony in the paddock next door, the kids loved it.

    Thanks Jes and family!

  • Great accommodation in a beautiful area. The Cloisters is so comfortable and so well equipped. A great location for our walks around the area. Jes is a great and responsive host.

  • Such a beautiful place! So well set up and clean. Jes was so responsive and helped in any way she could- like providing travel cot and pram. There were lovely toys and books and a tyre swing which our kids loved. Jimmy the pony is so sweet and the kids loved feeding him the carrots that Jes left. We would definitely come back!

  • The Cloisters was a fabulous place to stay. Located between Penola / Coonawarra & Mt Gambier there was plenty to do in each direction. In terms of the accommodation, it was Awesome. Peaceful, relaxing and had everything you could possibly think of. Jes and her hubby Trav were truly accommodating making sure we were able to do a bonfire one night by ensuring there was plenty of dry wood and kindling and also touching base to make sure we got it alight. There were plenty of amenities and entertainment within the house with games, puzzles, movies and books along with balls and outdoor games for better weather. Of course, Jimmy next door was a real treat and it was lovely sharing carrots and a chat every time we came back. Highly recommend for a small group, family or a couple of friends just wanting to get away from it all.

  • The most beautiful place to stay. We were apart of a bridal party and we got ready here before heading to a vineyard in Penola. Jess was so amazingly organised and jimmy the pony was a perfect icing on top of the cake for the children.
